The time when HTC released their ota 1.7x update, many users started facing the issues during rooting it and many of them got stuck in the roms. If you want to get rid of this problem then you must downgrade your DHD to lower version number in order to reset the phone to default factory settings and after downgrading, any root (S-off) method can be used. So, here we are letting you know the process of doing this.

Pre-requisites
• HTC Sync or Adb Drivers
• HTC Desire HD smartphone 1.72 or higher version. Please note that 2.37+ can’t be downgraded.
Downgrading DHD to 1.32x
1. If you have any antivirus installed, disable it.
2. If your device is branded one then consider making the Gold-card of your phone. And use mmc2 instead of mmc1.
3. Download. Comment if facing any issues in downloading.
4. Extract the contents on your desktop.
5. Download Pd98 img stock 1.32.
6. Place the above pd98img file on the Sd card. Make sure that you do not place it in the folder and not extract it.
7. Connect the smartphone to the pc. Charge only and Usb Debugging as enabled.
8. Open the command prompt.
9. Go to Downgrade folder.
10. Execute the below mentioned commands as per your Rom.
If your Rom is Froyo, 1.7x / 1.8x
adb push psneuter /data/local/tmp
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell
If you have 2.x Gingerbread Rom
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb push GingerBreak /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/GingerBreak
adb shell
./data/local/tmp/GingerBreak
11. If you see #, you have achieved temp root. Make sure you go ahead only if you see #
cd /data/local/tmp
./misc_version -s 1.31.405.6
12. Exit the command prompt.
13. Holding Volume Down, reboot the mobile. It will enter into the bootloader.
14. Follow the on-screen instructions.
15. All complete now 🙂 . You can now remove the Pd98img.zip from Sd card.
