Embedding videos in posts is good or bad? If user likes the video on your post, then obviously he/she will remain on your blog post for a long time means the video is increasing your visitor time on your site. Its good. At the same time, it increases your page size by some bytes. But that can be ignored as you are getting visitor loyalty for this. So try to include videos in your posts, wherever possible. But irrelevant videos and embedding videos just to increase visitor time on site should be avoided. Include videos where there is a need else your visitors will start avoiding your videos. But its true that embedding videos if done properly can prove plus point for your blog.

Today, I changed my blog’s theme to DailyEdition Woo Themes. I won this theme in a contest organized by smashinggeeks. Thanks to smashing Geeks. DailyEdition is a premium wordpress theme. Premium Themes have always been an advantage over free themes as premium ones do provide extra features whether it may be related to user Interactivity or SEO. By default, if you are using wordpress, your comments are going to take your same browser window. You can in the end lose your visitor leaving your site. So, your commentator takes the whole benefit of commenting on your site. The commentator should get love from any blogger for commenting on his blog but isn’t it good if both takes 50-50% credit each. That’s really good. So what to do for this. Simple, allow the comments to take a new window. In this way, visitor will be on both the sites.

I am so sorry to everyone that I was not able to update this blog for the last 2-3 months. But from now onwards, I be a regular blogger. I was not getting time. But now I have a new Laptop especially for techofweb.com . I recently bought new laptop Lenovo G450-2949-9JQ. It cost to me around something 31k INR. Generally, bloggers do write a single post in 2 or 3 categories. But doesn’t it count as duplicacy? Is this not a sin in Google’s eyes. This is the question that comes in the mind of every new blogger. Me too also thought same when I started blogging initially. Some do think that almost all do follow this strategy, so it might be acceptable by Search engines. But why, after all it’s a duplicate. The reason being that those blogs are using a good SEO plug-in that overcomes this issue. If you are not using any such plugin, then beware you are asking Google to punish you.

Example: Say you have a domain www.abc.com and you are publishing a post in 3 categories – category1, category2, category3.
So, now the urls of that single post become
www.abc.com/category1/post.html
www.abc.com/category2/post.html
www.abc.com/category3/post.html

Now go to the View–>Source of browser for all these 3 links.
You will notice these all would contain a unique code as similar to below.

<link rel=”canonical” href=”http:// www.abc.com/category1/post.html ” />

It signifies that even the post can be accessed by 3 ways, the original link is of category1, the other 2 are just its replica. So, Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. all search engines will consider them as replica itself and will not punish you.
Any good seo plugin will take care of this issue.

But if you don’t find this canonical link in your source code, it means your plugin doesn’t provide the canonical functionality and thus either you need to install any other canonical functionality provider plugin or STOP publishing in multiple categories.
